Social Media Support

We want your team to be able to leverage the City of Boston's official social media accounts to promote your content.

The City of Boston has official accounts on X (Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram. We’re also exploring adding content to Threads. The City of Boston’s official accounts are managed by our Digital Engagement Strategist.

We use the main City of Boston account to promote campaigns and amplify announcements and messaging from City departments. Above all else, it is critical that we share accurate and timely information for residents.

For support, City staff can email [email protected] or [email protected].

Differences between Mayoral and City accounts

In addition to official City of Boston accounts, there are also official accounts for the Mayor on all major social media platforms. While our City of Boston accounts stay apolitical, the Mayor’s accounts allow for more opinionated posts from the Mayor’s perspective. There are also often campaigns run directly from the Mayor’s Office that the City of Boston accounts will help amplify, just like any other City department.

Need access to Hootsuite?

The City of Boston uses Hootsuite to manage it's social media content. It's an excellent tool for planning and scheduling posts. We have a limited amount of seats, but if your team at the City is interested in joining, email [email protected] or [email protected].
